Description
The vibrant downtown area of Iceland’s capital is brimming with shops, historical relics, restaurants, and friendly faces. There is so much to discover along the stops on this food tour, and we pack in different tastes that will delight all your senses. This walking adventure starts at Hallgrímskirkja by the statue of Leifur Eiríksson, where you will meet your guide and try Icelandic traditional food, as well as other treats and delicatessens. At each restaurant and café, you will introduce your taste buds to new flavors by trying traditional - and sometimes bizarre - Icelandic food. In between tasting for example, cured meat and an array of delicious cheeses, you will learn about the history of these foods in Iceland.
It wouldn’t be an Icelandic food tour without a shot, or two, of Brennivín - Icelandic schnapps. Additionally, you will stop at a local bar to have a healthy serving of some local beers that are distinctly Icelandic. You will end this adventure on a sweet note by sampling some mouthwatering desserts and sipping on freshly brewed coffee or Icelandic herbal tea. Make sure to have your camera ready while we hop from one eatery to the next, because the bustling streets downtown provide a treasure trove of photography opportunities. Whether you snap a photo of Hallgrimskirkja, the most famous church in Iceland, or of the artistic murals dotted around the city, you are sure to capture some amazing memories.
Note that this tour can also be made non-alcohol or School group friendly.
