Super Jeep Tour of Þingvellir, Gullfoss, Geysir and Langjökull
Our first stop is the world class Þingvellir National Park, home of Iceland’s ancient Viking parliament, and one of UNESCO’s World Heritage sites. There we take a walk to experience firsthand the geological phenomenon that is the Mid-Atlantic ridge. After our stop at Þingvellir, we head east over Lyngdalsheiði following a scenic mountain road displaying great views of the rugged lava fields, and a trail that passes Laugarvatn lake. We will finally arrive at Haukadalur, home of the great Geysir and the reliable Strokkur geyser that erupts with 3 to 7 minute intervals. Next the magnificent Gullfoss awaits us as it comes cascading down the white colored Hvítá river. We then head up to Langjökull glacier for a look and feel of the glacier. During the summer months, we’ll take the backroads through lava fields for a super jeep adventure back to Reykjavík.
Note: Þingvellir is sometimes written Thingvellir or Pingvellir.
