The Volcanic Eruption in Eyjafjallajökull Glacier has calmed down in the
past few days and stabilized at around one tenth of its original
power. The effect on air traffic has greatly diminished and all but one
of our tours in the area are running on schedule.
South Coast, Glaciers and Waterfalls ILR10 is back on track and offers great views of the
eruption and the ash covered areas.
Ash fall from the volcano is now mostly limited to the near vicinities of the eruption high up on the glacier, and little ash has fallen in the low lands for the past few days. Life on the farms around the volcano is well on its way back to normal. Volunteers from Reykjavík and all over the country have been helping the farmers clean the ash from their houses and pastures. Driving through this small affected area on the
South
Coast, Glaciers and Waterfalls tour is quite a sight, formerly green pastures are as if asphalted black and an eerie shade of gray dominates thye surroundings. However, nature has begun to break through and the green colors of spring are becoming visible again!
